12/26/08: Hershey, PA - Shawn Michaels def. Randy Orton (w/ Cody Rhodes and Manu)
About the only thing missing in this final week of 2008 are the Doublemint twins proclaiming that the Florida Citrus Bowl gives us "two bowls in one" -- the Champs Sports Bowl on Saturday and, five days later, the Capital One Bowl on Jan. 1. No wonder President Franklin D. Roosevelt had the foresight to throw in $5,000 of federal money to help light "The Greater Orlando Stadium" when it was built in 1936. You may not have learned this in school but that might be what brought us out of the Great Depression. Or not. But we've received major bang for the buck in the 72 years since. Here's an eclectic look backward and forward at the some of the highlights:
1. 'Sweet Chin Music'
Journey back to March 30 of this year when the Florida Citrus Bowl hosted WrestleMania XXIV that set a stadium attendance record of 74,635. Oh, the wonders that night, including Kim Kardashian. And history was made when Shawn "HBK" Michaels whispered "I'm sorry -- I love you" and delivered Sweet Chin Music [If you don't know what it means, it means "lights out"] to end the career of Ric "Nature Boy" Flair. Can you give us one last amen and "Whoo!"?
